Do you need an Identity Theft Prevention Program?
The FTC has broadened the definition of "creditor" to include businesses that regularly allow customers to defer payments for goods and services. If you fall into the FTC definition of a creditor, the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) Title 16 (Commercial Practices) applies and you must implement PART 681, Identity Theft Rules by June 1, 2010. This defines as: if you bill your patient after services are rendered, then this statute applies to your operation.
